How to join Travelpayouts and set it up correctly

A step-by-step walkthrough of signing up for Travelpayouts, creating your first Project, getting programs approved, and building trackable affiliate links.

Travelpayouts is a travel affiliate platform that connects one account to many travel brands across flights, accommodation, tours and activities. Instead of applying to each brand separately and managing several dashboards, you manage programs, statistics and payouts in one place.

This guide walks through the signup flow, the Project step that most beginners get wrong, and what to do after your first programs are connected. Everything below reflects the program details we verified on 2026-08-24 — terms change, so confirm the specifics on the program pages inside your own account.

Before you start

You need a promotional resource you actually control and can point to: a website, a blog, an app, or an eligible social or content channel. Travelpayouts calls this a Project, and programs are approved against the Project — not against your account in general.

  • A free Travelpayouts account
  • A verified email address, which is also required for payouts
  • At least one Project (website, channel, app or other eligible resource)
  • For website Projects, be ready to verify ownership and install Drive

If your site is brand new and has no travel content yet, publish a few genuine pages first. Individual brands may review content type, language, geography and traffic quality before granting access.

Step 1 — Create your account

  1. Open the Travelpayouts signup page and register a free account.
  2. Verify your email address. Do this before anything else — payouts depend on it.
  3. Complete your profile details so payout information is not blocking you later.

Step 2 — Create your first Project

A Project represents the specific place where you will promote travel brands. Create it accurately: the Project type and content are what brands evaluate.

  • Add the exact URL or handle of the resource you will publish on
  • Describe the topic honestly, including your main audience geography and language
  • For website Projects, complete ownership verification and install Drive when prompted
  • Create separate Projects if you publish on genuinely different properties

Step 3 — Let programs connect, then check their status

Once the Project exists, Travelpayouts automatically connects it to relevant available programs. You will see three outcomes, and all three are normal:

  • Available immediately — you can generate links right away
  • Under review — a brand is checking your Project against its own requirements
  • Unavailable — your Project does not currently match that brand's requirements

Do not wait for everything to be approved before you start. Begin with the programs that are already available and revisit the rest once your Project has more published content.

Step 4 — Build links that you can actually measure

Travelpayouts supports Partner ID and SubID for attribution. SubID is what turns a pile of clicks into usable data.

  • Use a consistent SubID scheme, for example page-slug or placement name
  • Keep one SubID per placement so you can tell a sidebar link from an in-article link
  • Never rewrite or mask links in a way that breaks the tracking parameters

Attribution is not unlimited. Most programs use a 30-day cookie or tracking period, but the exact window varies by brand and should be checked on each individual program page.

Step 5 — Understand how you get paid

Travelpayouts is CPA-based: you earn when a referred booking is confirmed, not when someone clicks. Reward rates vary by brand and program, and Travelpayouts states that partners can receive up to 70% of the revenue from referred bookings. Treat that as a ceiling, not an expectation — check the rate on each program page.

Rewards are generally paid monthly once the applicable minimum payout threshold is reached. Available payout methods and conditions may vary, so confirm yours in the payout settings before your first balance builds up.

What to watch out for

  • Commission rates and terms vary by individual brand
  • Not every program is available to every Project
  • Some programs require review before access is granted
  • Eligibility may depend on content type, language, geography, traffic quality or other brand requirements
  • Tracking windows and payout conditions must be checked per program, not assumed platform-wide

A realistic first week

  1. Register, verify your email, and create one Project you genuinely control.
  2. Complete website verification and Drive installation if you are using a site.
  3. List the programs that came back as available and pick the two closest to your existing content.
  4. Place links only where they answer a real question a reader already has.
  5. Tag each placement with its own SubID and leave it alone for a few weeks before judging it.

Clicks are the easy part. The programs that pay are the ones placed inside content that someone was already searching for, so build the page first and add the link second.

Some links on this site are affiliate or referral links, and we may earn a commission if you sign up through them. This does not change what we publish: program details here come from the partner's own documentation and are dated so you can check how current they are.
